Illegal bird smuggling foiled thanks to Ops Bersepadu Khazanah that was recently launched at Battalion 3, PGA Bidor.

It has yield results when a total of 42 parrots from the Aratinga species were found in two cages placed at an illegal base on the banks of the Golok River, Kelantan.

Meanwhile, in separate cases, the ops team have raided a premise in Senawang, Negeri Sembilan yesterday, before seizing various species of protected birds at the site.

The results of the investigation found that nine serpentine birds were kept without a valid license.

Kadir said the suspect in his 40s was questioned before all his birds were seized for further action.

“The Police also conducted an inspection at a premise in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan around 6.30pm, yesterday.

“The result of the investigation was to find a white-tailed deer, three turtles and a tortoise,” he said.

He said investigations found that all the wild animals were kept without special permits and licenses. The animals were later seized and taken to the Negeri Sembilan Emergency Office for further investigation.
