A senior officer’s stepping on a trainee officer from the Malaysian Immigration Department resulted in some physical injuries while the trainee was undergoing a physical test at the Temporary Immigration Depot in Bidor on Thursday.
Perak Chief of Police, Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, said they received a report about the incident from the victim on March 10th, at 2 a.m. at the Tapah District Police Headquarters.
He said police investigations found that the officer’s stepping incident occurred at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, the last day of the victim, who is also a man, undergoing the Officer and Special Tactical Team (Pastak) Fitness Test.
The Grup Taktikal Khas (GTK or Special Tactical Group) was an elite counter-terrorism unit for the Malaysian Immigration Department. However, its role has been taken over by the present Special Tactical Team of the Immigration Department (PASTAK) as of February 2018.
“The victim, along with two trainers, was directed by the suspect to do 20 tube press-ups. While doing the press-ups, the suspect stepped on the back of the victim’s neck, causing the victim to fall.
“As a result of the act, the victim suffered injuries to the nose, a broken front tooth, injuries to the gums, and injuries to the lips,” he said in a statement on Sunday.
He explained that as a result of the injury, the 25-year-old victim received treatment at the Emergency Department of Shah Alam Hospital, Selangor.
Mohd Yusri said the police have summoned the suspect and all witnesses involved in the incident to assist in the investigation.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of seven years imprisonment and a fine upon conviction.
