Bidor elderly died in motorcycle accident in town

An elderly citizen was killed in a motorcycle accident after the vehicle he was riding was involved in an accident with a car at Kilometer 68 of the Ipoh-Kuala Lumpur road in Bidor town centre, today.

In the incident at 2.35 pm, Lew Koo Yong, 77, suffered severe injuries before being confirmed dead at the scene.

Tapah District Police Chief, Superintendent Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail, said the accident involved a Nissan Almera car and the deceased Honda motorcycle.

He said the car was driven by a man travelling from Ipoh, Perak to Pahang.

“The car driver is believed to have collided with the left side of the motorcycle as the victim was trying to turn right from the junction.

“The victim, who resides in Kampung Baru Pekan Pasir, Bidor, suffered severe injuries and died at the scene before help can be rendered,” he said in a statement today.

Wan Azharuddin said the victim’s body was sent to the Forensic Unit of Tapah Hospital for further action, while the 23-year-old car driver did not suffer any injuries.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987
