A woman was injured in a fire that destroyed two houses in Kampung Baru Bidor (New Village) here today.

The incident caused Lim Sai Guik, 58, burned on the face, hands, and back of the body as a result of being engulfed by the fire while trying to save herself.

However, there were no casualties from Lim’s neighbour who also suffered loses when their property was also destroyed in the fire.

Bidor Fire and Rescue Department chief Muhammad Asyraf Mat Isa said five members and two Emergency Services Aid (EMRS) Unit were sent to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 10.38am.

He said the fire involved two B-class houses burning at about 80 percent. (Class B are properties which is generally older, tend to have lower income tenants, and may or may not be professionally managed.)

“The fire started from the victim’s house and spread to another house opposite.

“Firefighters who responded to the emergency call attended to the fire immediately and take about 30 minutes to extinguish the fires,” he said here today.

Muhammad Asyraf said the victim was taken to Tapah Hospital by the public for treatment and her conditions are stable.

“Firefighting operations, which were also assisted by six members of the Tapah Fire and Rescue Station, ended the operation at 1.10 pm,” he said.
