BIDOR: A man was killed while two were injured in an accident involving a Proton Wira that collided with a guardrail at Km 349.4 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS), here today.
In the incident at 8.15am, the victim, Muhammad Azry Izwan Rohaizad, 22, died at the scene after being trapped in the driver’s seat and suffering heavy wounds on his body.
It is learned that the other two passengers, the 22-year-old victim’s fiancĂ© and an unidentified child with wounds in the head are now in stable condition.
Tapah District Police Chief, Superintendent Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail, said the initial investigation found that Proton Wira that was driven by the victim was heading to Taiping from Kuala Lumpur and was believed to have lost control of his vehicle at the scene.
“Upon reaching the scene, it was believed that the victim has failed to control his vehicle and collided with the guardrail on the left side of the road.
“Due to the accident, the victim was trapped in the driver’s seat. The victim’s body has been successfully extracted by the firemen before being confirmed dead at the scene.
“The two other passengers who were injured are taken to the Tapah Hospital to receive treatment before being referred to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) in Ipoh,” he said.
Wan Azharuddin said further investigation was carried out under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, “he said.
Meanwhile, Perak Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said he received an emergency call at 8.26am before a team from Bidor Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Bidor was dispatched to the scene.
“Upon arrival, a victim was caught in the driver’s seat while the other two were already been extracted by the public and had been taken to the hospital.
“The rescuers then used the rescue equipment and managed to remove the victim before the medical team arrived confirming the victim had died,” he said.
